A delightful duo of deer. Myrna Schkolne’s assigns this specific set of models to the Patriotic Group Active 1810 - 1830. As shown in one of the photos taken from her excellent Volume 3. These beautiful figures have open bases which is another indicator of early Staffordshire, you can also clearly see these are made from clay with all the individual elements added to form these these spectacular pieces. There is some good restoration to the bocage and I think possibly the stag’s antlers and the die’s ear looks to have been reattached, but I’m not entirely sure what else as they display well and it has been sympathetically done. A lovely early pair of recumbent stag and doe deer with highly detailed bocage with flowers and sprigs. All these elements were made in moulds and applied as individual elements. Nicely painted pair. They measure approx. 13cm high 10cm wide.
